CSPP Fairfield County Film Club:

Psychoanalysis at the Movies

2018 Winter Meeting

Sunday, March 4, 2018

 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM

 “Mother!”

a film by Darren Aronofsky

Mother! is one of the most audacious and bizarre movies that a major studio has released in years. The director has never shied away from controversial filmmaking, but this deep dive into metaphorical horror finds him working in a register that feels crazy. Mother! is at times horrifying, at times riveting, at times baffling, and at times like nothing you’ve ever seen before. At its core, it is a film about the male ego, the female instinct, and the most horrifying thing in the world: people who want more from you than you can possibly give. CSPP members who attended Dan Shaw’s talk on Malignant Narcissism will find much to think about in this powerful film. “Mother!” is a perfect movie for a psychoanalytical audience.

The movie is available on ITunes and Amazon instant video and on DVD and Blue Ray. Please view the film before the meeting.

Location: 1912 Shippan Avenue, Stamford. CT 06902

The Film Club is open to all CSPP members and you do not have to have attended earlier meetings to take part.
